Two historic hotels put up for sale

Christian Guild Hotels has put hotels in Cumbria and Gloucestershire up for sale.

The group – represented jointly by Savills and Musson Liggins – has brought to market the Abbot Hall Hotel and Lindors Hotel at guide prices of £1.5m and £1.4m respectively.

Abbot Hall Hotel, located in Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria, was built in 1840 and comprises 36 bedrooms in the main house, a 14-bedroom bungalow, five lodges providing 11 bedrooms and a separate owner’s accommodation.

Lindors Country House Hotel in Lydney, Gloucestershire, was constructed in the 1830s with a wing of the building dating back to 1660.

The hotel offers 23 en-suite bedrooms, five separate lodges, three conference rooms and a restaurant with 64 covers.

The hotels are in tourist hotspots with Abbot Hall just south of the Lake District and Lindors Hotel situated in the Wye Valley area close to the Forest of Dean.

“We are delighted to have been appointed to sell these two historic hotels,” said Tom Cunningham, director in the hotels team at Savills.

“Both are located in popular tourist destinations and benefit from a strong business and tourist trade, making them attractive to a range of prospective buyers.”
